Facts about Newfoundland Dogs

Well-known for its soft brown eyes, a small puddle, beautiful and loving expressions and highly intelligent behavior. Newfoundland dogs were originally bred in Newfoundland in Canada as working dogs. Their giant size, extraordinary strength, agility, excellence at water rescue, great muscles, and superb swimming capabilities, makes Newfoundland breed of dogs as one of the most famous working breed of dogs.



Newfoundland breed of dogs is famous for its extraordinary strength and it often beats the other similar sized dogs such as Mastiff, Great Dane or even Irish Wolfhound. Weighing around 150-180 pounds and standing tall at around 30-inches, Newfoundland Dogs have a life span of about 9-12 years. Black, brown and grey are considered as the standard colors for Newfoundland dogs. Known for its strength and gentle nature, Newfoundland dogs are often known as 'gentle Giant'. Apart from its gentle nature with human beings, Newfoundland dogs are also famous for its ability to get along well with other animals and pets at home.
