Facts about Dogs Dachshund Breed Information and Dachshund Puppies Pictures

Dachshund is from the hound family and comes in three varieties short-haired, wired-haired and long-haired. It is a short-legged and elongated breed of dog. Dachshund is also known by other names such as Doxie, Sausage Dog, Worshond Dog, Weenie Dog, Wiener Dog, Dackel or Teckel. They originate from Germany and were developed to prey burrow-dwelling animals such as badgers and rabbits. by using their peculiar characteristics of scent, chase and flush. All the three varieties of Dachshund Dogs come in three different sizes.





The body of Dachshund is longer than its height and the legs are short and muscular. They have an elongated head with slightly convex skull and protruding eyebrows. The muzzle is long with robust jaw and non-pendent lips. Eyes are dark red or brown-black and almond shaped. The coat comes in many colors such as solid black, red, chocolate, tan, fawn, golden blonde, platinum and grayish blue. Wired haired Dachshund dogs resemble terriers in appearance and also display similar characteristics. Fully grown standard Dachshund dog weighs between 7-13 kg whereas the miniature type weighs about 5 kg.

Collie is a large and strong breed of herding types of dogs from Britain. Collie, active and agile breed of dogs comes in different types such as Smooth collie, Scottish Coolie, Rough Collie and Border collie. They originate from the upland areas of the south and west regions of Britain. Coolie is a lean, fairly light-built dog with pointed snout with distinctive white pattern over the shoulders. Coolie weight about 10-25 kg and have a lean body with partly erect ears giving them fox like appearance. The coat may be short, flat or long and comes in black, red, black and tan, sable and red and tan.

Chesapeake Bay Retriever is a breed of dog from Retriever, Gun Dogs and Sports Dogs. They are also known by the short name CBR or Chesapeake or Chessie. CBR was developed in Chesapeake Bay area in the United States in the 1800s for hunting and retrieving waterfowl but nowadays, it is primarily used as a family companions and sometimes as companion for hunting. Chesapeake Bay Retriever is a medium to large sized dog similar in appearance to Labrador Retrievers.




Chesapeake Bay Retriever is a powerful and muscular dog with broad head, medium length muzzle and skull, yellowish to amber colored wide-set eyes, and medium length tail. The coat is oily and short yet dense with waves and comes in brown, red, or tan colors. The oil in the coat helps them dry quickly and enables them to swim in cold waters. Apart from a bright and happy disposition, CBR are courageous, alert, intelligent, brave, obedient, affectionate, friendly with children, lovers of water and often willing to work. The size of an adult male CBR is 60-80 pounds in weight and 22-25 inches in height. The lifespan is 10-13 years.

Cairn Terrier is a little dog and one of the oldest breeds of terriers. The size of an adult male Cairn Terrier is 13-17 pounds weight and 10-13 inches height. They are adventurous, intelligent, strong and loyal breed of dogs. Bulldog is a breed of dog and a common name for different types of bulldogs but generally it means an English or British Bulldog. Other bulldogs include American Bulldog and French Bulldog. Facts about Dogs Akita American Breed Information and Akita American Puppies Pictures

American Akita or simply Akita is a breed of dog from the mountainous regions of Japan but in many countries except USA and Canada, it is considered as a separate breed from Japanese Akita. Until 2005, American Akita was known as Great Japanese Dog. The overall appearance of American Akita shows that it is adaptable to the severe cold weathers of the northern regions. It has a large bear like head, stout and erect posture, triangular ears, small, dark and deeply-set eyes.





American Akita has thick double coats, tight and well knuckled feet and a graceful tail that sweeps down into a gentle double curl. Temperaments of Akita include a great mix of dignity, courage, alertness, loyalty and affection to the masters, among others. Akita is a relatively newer variety of dogs that has gained tremendous popularity due to its captivating personality and extraordinary appearance.
