Bulldog is a breed of dog and a common name for different types of bulldogs but generally it means an English or British Bulldog. Other bulldogs include American Bulldog and French Bulldog. Bulldog is a muscular and heavy dog with wrinkled face and a peculiar nose that looks as if it is pushed in. Thick shoulders with proportionate head, thick folds of skin on its brow, round black wide-set eyes, short muzzle, hanging skin under the neck, drooping lips and pointed teeth are some of the characteristics of bulldog.





As per US standards, the weight of an adult bulldog should be around 45 pounds and as per UK standards, it should be 55 pounds. They have a short, flat and sleek coat that comes in different colors such as red, fawn, brindle, white, and mixed colors with waves or irregular stripes. Bulldogs are generally very docile but over short distances, they can move very fast. Bulldog is a friendly and aggressive breed of dogs but they are very stubborn. It is believed that the phrase 'stubborn as bulldog' must have come from the stubbornness characteristic of bulldogs. They have a lifespan of 8-12 years.
