Facts About Akita Dog

This Popular Watchdog “Akita” is believed to be originates from Japan and the breed was apparently developed by a Samurai. The dog, Akita has over three hundred years of history, having been developed around the mid 1600s. The breed is now known as a national monument and a national treasure in Japan. The Akita was registered with the American Kennel Club in 1972 It is a decorous and devoted dog. Being very powerful and protective. Akita is a perfect watchdog.

This kind of dog is very friendly with children that he has been raised with. It is a high shedding dog, so not preferred by persons who don’t like hairs around houses. Dog trainers can train Akita easily. The average height of Akita is between 25-30 inches and the weight is around 75-115 pounds. The coat of this dog is ruthless and straight, but has a softer, dense undercoat. The life expectancy of the Akita is around 10-13 years. There is some health issues associated with Akita that includes thyroid problems among others.
